What it is

Firmness is how much of an account's book can still walk. Every booked line lands in one of three answers, each printed as the word below.

Firm

Shipped, or the account holds no right to cancel, or its window has already closed. This is the part of the book that cannot walk.

Can still walk

The account may still cancel it today: a booked order inside its cancellation window is the account's option, not your money.

Nobody has said

Whether it can walk has never been recorded. It is a third answer: folding it into firm overstates the book, folding it into walkable invents an exposure.

Only shipped is fact. Everything before that is the account's promise, and firmness is how far that promise binds.

How Tightly decides it

Firmness is read line by line from two things: the account's cancellation term and the line's own cancel date. The term is Cannot cancel, Inside a window or Cancels at will, or it is not recorded at all.

  • A shipped line is firm, whatever the term.
  • No term recorded: the line is Nobody has said.
  • Cannot cancel: firm. Cancels at will: can still walk.
  • Inside a window: can still walk while the cancel date is today or later, firm once it has passed, and Nobody has said where the line carries no cancel date.

The account's notice days are shown beside the term but do not move the boundary; the date on the line does.

Held and draft lines are none of the three. A hold is units agreed with sizes and price to follow, and a draft is an order file read and not yet confirmed, so neither counts as booked money. Cancelled lines count toward nothing. Summed, firm, can still walk and nobody has said equal the value of every live line that is not a hold or a draft, so a priced draft sits in Booked and in none of the three.

A window that closes inside 14 days is the week's work, and it is the one place the brand's side of Tightly Connect spends its amber mark.

The words on the face

On Accounts the figure row reads Booked, Can still walk, Closing inside 14 days (whose windows, and the soonest day, under it) and Nobody has said; a figure with no money in it is not drawn. The table carries Firm, Can still walk and Deadline, and Nobody has said is one press of Columns away. Deadline is the soonest still-open cancel date; only the soonest closing window on the page wears the dot, and its hover says how many days are left. At-will money reads No deadline, with the reason on hover. A row the firmness read did not answer reads Not read. The Can still walk view narrows the table to accounts with money that can walk.

On the account's Book each line's State is a word beside a shape: Firm, Can still walk, Held, Draft, Shipped, Pulled, or Not known where no term is recorded for the account or its term could not be read. Cancel by prints the date, or Passed and the day once it has gone; a window closing inside two weeks carries the mark. The Book's sentence reads:

{money} booked for {season}; {money} can still walk until {day}.

or "{money} booked for {season}; {money} can still walk, with no deadline.", or "{money} booked for {season}, all of it firm." Under the table one line counts what is still to settle, for example "{n} lines can still walk, the first until {day}."

On Tightly Pro the buyer reads the same dates in their own words on the portal: Ships from, and Can change until for the cancel date, which is the buyer's own option and carries no mark. Their one mark is the brand's promise at risk: a ship window that has opened with lines still unshipped.

What you can do about it

The account's Terms tab shows its cancellation right and notice; where they read Not recorded, the book reads Nobody has said until a term is recorded. A term can be chosen when you add an account (What they may cancel), and Ask Tightly can record an account's terms after you say yes on a later turn (Set an account's terms).

A buyer who needs a window moved or a line cancelled writes in a claim, by email or, on Pro, on the portal. Accepting it in Waits on you on Accounts, or under Written in on the Book, writes a new version of the line, "Accepted {day}. {n} lines carry a new version.", so a new cancel date moves the line's firmness. A claim against a shipped line cannot be accepted. Otherwise only the term, the calendar, a shipment or a new version of the line moves firmness.

Glossary line

Firmness is how much of an account's book can still walk: firm cannot, walkable can until its cancel date, and unknown means nobody has said.
