The question this page answers

Who signs off a commitment before it owns money: must a second admin sign what another admin submitted, or may one admin declare and approve? Approvals is where the organisation chooses, and the record of every time it chose.

What you see

The head is the page's name, Approvals. The rule in force is not restated there: it is the option marked In force in the card beneath. The figure row carries Admins in this account, your own admins on this account, and Changes, how many times the rule has moved; an account whose admins could not be counted reads Admins not counted in place of that figure.

The card Approval policy offers the two rules as a choice, stricter first: A second admin and A single admin. Each name carries the first sentence of the served rule on hover:

A second admin must sign off a commitment before it goes live.

A single admin can declare a commitment and approve it.

The rule in force wears the word In force. While nobody has chosen, no option is marked, and the rule the first approval would settle on wears What the first approval will settle on, with the served reason on its hover:

Nobody has chosen how commitments get signed off here yet. Until somebody does, the first commitment approved will settle it from the number of admins in this account, and that choice is then recorded and stays put.

An account with one admin reads Recommended for a team of one beside A single admin. The one amber on this page sits beside A single admin when it is in force on an account with more than one admin, and reads how many admins can each sign alone.

The card Changes is the record, newest first: When, To, From, By and How. How reads Chosen here for a rule a person chose and Settled at the first approval for one measured in. By names the person the change was recorded under. Absence is a word in the cell: No date, Nothing was set for a first choice with no rule before it, Not recorded.

The settings rail carries Approvals on Tightly Pro only. On Tightly Essentials and Tightly Essentials+ a typed address opens the room's for-sale card: the name, the sentence "Sold with Tightly Pro.", Book time with Tightly, a door to Billing, and what the room holds, Approval policy and Changes. On Tightly Lite the address is Not found, because a store install is sold nothing.

What to do

Choose the other rule; the choice is the write, and the ring shows the rule Tightly holds, never the one pressed. Only an admin changes it; everyone else reads the two rules and the sentence "Only an admin can change this." Choosing the rule already in force changes nothing and adds no row. Every change lands in Changes with who and when, in the same write as the rule, so a change cannot happen without its record. The way back is the other choice, a new row.

Loosening the rule hides nothing. Every commitment signed off says how on its own record:

A second admin signed this off.

The same admin declared and approved this, under this organization's single-approver policy.

Nobody has chosen is never read as permissive. Until somebody chooses, the first commitment approved settles the rule from the number of admins on this account: one admin means a single admin, any other count means a second admin, and the measured choice is recorded as Settled at the first approval and stays put. Where the count cannot be taken, the answer is a second admin and nothing is stored. Only your own admins are counted; Tightly staff with access to your account are not, so a staff seat never changes your policy.

What the rule does on Sign off: under A second admin, a person who presses to sign their own submission is refused by Tightly, and the refusal lands beside the button; under A single admin they may sign their own. There is no reject under either rule. The Reject row on Sign off reads "None · signed or withdrawn", and its hover says who can end the wait:

A second admin signs it, or the submitter withdraws it.

with "An admin signs it" in place of "A second admin signs it" under A single admin; a submission is withdrawn through Retire. Two signatures explains the rule itself.

When it is empty or failed

stands in place of both cards, with Try again beside the head. While the read is on its way the two options draw as placeholders. A rule that has never moved reads, in place of the record:

This rule has not been changed

A choice Tightly refused leaves the ring on the rule held; the page shows a rule only once Tightly has answered.
