What it is
The four-five-four calendar is the retail calendar Tightly plans on. A quarter is thirteen weeks split across its three months as four, five and four, so a year is fifty-two weeks of seven days, and every week starts on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday. Because fifty-two weeks are a day short of a calendar year, a fifty-third week returns every five or six years and is added to the last month of the fiscal year. The commitments' weekly verdicts, the buy plan and open to buy by week, and Home's net sales all stand on this grid.
How Tightly decides it
You declare the month your fiscal year starts in. The year then begins on the Sunday on or before the first of that month, which is what makes the week count exact: consecutive year starts are always a whole number of weeks apart, so whether a year has fifty-two or fifty-three weeks is arithmetic, never a guess. On Pro, a plan's allocation in Finance can also be read on a four-four-five calendar; the weeks are the same Sunday weeks and only the months group differently.
It is not the ISO week, which starts on Monday. One place counts Monday weeks on purpose: an answer from Ask Tightly that groups by week uses Monday weeks, the same buckets its charts draw, so an Ask Tightly week and a planning week can start a day apart.
Most comparisons to last year move back three hundred and sixty-four days, not a calendar year, so a retail week meets the week that fell on the same weekday a year before. The ledger steps back by the calendar's own shift instead, three hundred and seventy-one days when the year between has fifty-three weeks, and a style's sell-through against its predecessor matches by fiscal week number, so a fifty-third week has no counterpart. Only complete weeks are scored: a week that has not closed is not in a verdict, and a head that says Week {n} of {N} counts the retail weeks the season's window encloses; a rolling window counts up and has no total.
The words on the face
Home's basis reads USD and vs last year, and its net sales label each week by the day it opens, as words. The ledger's chart labels its weeks Wk with the fiscal week number. A commitment's readings open with Week {n} of {N} where the window has a total.
What you can do about it
Set the fiscal year's start month in Settings under Planning, in the Calendar set; an admin changes it, and on Pro the season split and its windows sit beside it. Read the weekly verdict on Monday: it scores the week that closed on Saturday, a retry on Tuesday scores the same week, and a figure that lands after that week's verdict is written is never written back into it.
