The question this page answers
Which lines have a forecast I should check before I buy against it, and what do I change?
What you see
- 1The head names Demand forecasting, the last run, and the comparison against a by-hand method.
- 2The channels, the window and Units or Revenue.
- 3Forecast lines, one row per line and channel, with Review flags and a column per period.
The head names Demand forecasting and the forecast's last run; Details holds the last sales sync. The comparison shows Tightly against a by-hand method over scored weeks, labelled Backtested or Actual results and WMAPE · Lower is better. Missing scores say why. Press it for Forecast performance: the method comparison, weekly record and Forecast status.
Under the head is one row of controls: the channels, Whole book or a season or commitment on Tightly Pro, the window, the history window, Earlier and Later, Back to the default window, and Units | Revenue.
The chart, Sales and forecast, draws the view's sales and forecast with today as the seam. Its View menu adds Last year; Events opens the events list, and each event in the window opens that event.
The grid, Forecast lines, is the work: one row per line and channel, then Review, Velocity 30d, Whole window and one column per period. Each period stacks the planned figure, the System forecast, the Manual forecast, Actual and, where you add it, Last year. Review carries Watch closely or New item where the forecast needs checking, then the flags Oversold, Out of stock, Off plan, ↑ vs last year or ↓ vs last year and Thin history, each with its reason on hover; Not checked means the flags were not scored for that line. Beside a line's name sits From an analog where the forecast comes from a past product that sells like this one, Borrowed method where it forecasts from its own sales with a borrowed method, Overridden where a figure was typed by hand, and the line's tags. Columns adds the Last year row, Supplier and Velocity with bundles; Group by product reads the book by product and stops typing.
The commitment header counts distinct products or variants separately from channel rows. The footer counts paginated and matching rows.
Above the grid, Forecast to check leaves only the Watch closely and New item lines, with their count, and Review leaves only the flagged lines; it reads Nothing flagged where none are. Search and Filter narrow further: Overridden lines only, a supplier or an event.
Each row opens a drawer: the line's facts, its own chart with Last year and Forecast range, Period by period, Forecast drivers for the reasons behind the figure, the analog where one stands in with Review the analog, and Bundle contributions.
What to do
- Type a figure into the Manual forecast of an open period, in Units.
- Pick one of the six reasons the cell opens, and add an optional note.
- Press Save with a reason once you have typed one or more cells, or Discard to drop them.
- Select lines and use Set forecast… to set units, increase or decrease the calculated forecast, or reset it over the selected dates.
- On a period's menu, press Revert to the system forecast to hand a manual figure back, or Open the event to open the event that locks a period.
- Press Recalculate now, in the Forecast performance drawer, when the engine is stale or failed.
- Ask Tightly why it recommends a quantity and what you can change; review and confirm the scoped adjustment it proposes before it saves.
- Press Export CSV to take the current view away.

On Tightly Pro, where the change sits under a commitment, the popover names it. The commitment's dated product and channel membership limits what can be changed; check the dates and account before saving. A percentage in Set forecast… replaces the existing manual figure with a fixed adjustment to the calculated baseline; it does not compound the previous edit. A variant marked unmanaged has no generated forecast; its drawer reads Not forecast, with Open the variant. Recalculate now is once every two hours for your whole book, and any seat that can write may press it. Ask Tightly's saved result opens the same variant, channel, account and dates in Forecast; separate pairs have separate destinations, and saving demand places no order.
When it is empty or failed
The chart says, in one line:
Loading forecast… Forecast could not load. No period carries a figure. No chart values are available for this window.
The grid says, where the rows would be:
The forecast did not answer.
with Try again beside it; No matches, with Show every line, where search or a filter left nothing; and No forecasts where nothing on the view carries one. A season or commitment with no lines says why:
Nobody has recorded which styles were in {season}. That is not the same as no demand. {season} is recorded as holding no styles, so no line can sit under it. The {season} styles carry no line on this window and these filters. {commitment} covers no line on this window and these filters.
While you have typed and not saved, moving the window is refused:
Save or discard your changes before moving the window.
