The question this page answers
Behind one stock figure, what is on hand, what is held, what is coming, and what can be promised?
What you see
- 1The ladder, on hand down to available to promise, each line the server's own arithmetic.
- 2Reconciled, Seen not booked and Reserved, not firm, beside the ladder.
- 3Movements, the last twenty behind the on-hand figure, with the document behind each one.
On Stock on hand, Available to sell and On order are doors: pressing either opens the position of that variant at that warehouse, in a drawer beside the grid. On a row combined across warehouses the position is summed over every warehouse, and a table names what each one holds: on hand, reserved, expected inbound and available to promise.
The drawer is a ladder, and every line of it is the server's own arithmetic; the page adds nothing up. On hand stands first, with what the figure is: Counted at the warehouse, Sellable count, or Summed from the ledger. Under it, what is firmly held and why, each with the document behind it where there is one: Reserved (units held for an order), Held for the order book, Held for the forecast, Held by hand, and Committed by a named source for units that source has promised to its own open orders. Available to sell is on hand less what is firmly held. Expected inbound follows, one line per document with the day it is due, then Returns expected, and Available to promise closes the ladder: on hand, less what is firmly held, plus expected inbound and returns expected. A document on the ladder is a door to it.
Beside the ladder stand up to three facts. Reconciled says when the nightly sweep last tied this pair to the ledger, and reads Not reconciled yet where it never has. Seen, not booked says what the sweep has seen and not yet booked as a correction. Reserved, not firm counts a hold that is a plan rather than a promise; it is stated, and never subtracted. Under them, Movements lists the last twenty movements behind the on hand figure, When, Movement, Change, Document, Cost and Landed cost, and the drawer's one sentence says how many movements the figure ties to, and since when where every one of them is in hand.
What to do
- Press a Stock on hand, Available to sell or On order figure to open the drawer.
- Press a document on the ladder to open it.
- Press Open the ledger to read every movement the on hand figure is made of, narrowed to this variant at this warehouse.
The drawer is for reading; nothing is written from it.
When it fails
This position didn’t answer.
A read that did not answer offers nothing, and Open the ledger is disabled; Movements is still a press away on the page's own control.
The stock position drawer keeps the product and variant in its heading and names the selected warehouse underneath, including while its figures are loading.
