What it is
Health is the replenishment engine's word on one variant at one warehouse: whether the stock there is Covered, holds more than it can sell, which reads Overstocked, or is out or due a reorder, which reads Needs ordering; where nobody measured it, Not measured. Tags are the words the tag engine puts on a variant at a warehouse for how it sells and how it is stocked: high growth, declining, consistent seller, not selling, stocked out, understocked, overstocked. Healthy is quiet: a covered line carries no colour, and on Stock on hand no mark at all, because stock that needs no decision is a reason to say nothing about it.
How Tightly decides it
Health comes from the replenishment simulation that runs after every sync. A warehouse with nothing on hand is a stockout. A variant whose first reorder lies more than three replenishment cycles away holds more than it can sell. A variant the simulation would reorder today, because its stock at lead time falls under its safety stock, is understocked. Everything else is normal, and so is a variant with no sales to simulate, whatever it holds. Stockout and understocked read Needs ordering; overstock reads Overstocked; normal reads Covered. Cover itself is the days the sellable stock on hand lasts against the forecast, walked day by day; where the stock outlasts the forecast, the figure is a floor.
Tags are three readings over the same grain, merged. Growth reads the last twenty-six weeks of sales: a significant rise is high growth; a significant fall that is still falling in the most recent weeks is declining, so a season's normal come-down is not called a decline; a steady seller with low variation and few empty weeks is a consistent seller, the bar set from your own catalogue where it is large enough to set one, and a fixed bar otherwise. Stock reads the health above: stocked out where nothing is available, understocked and overstocked from the health word. Not selling is a variant at a warehouse with no net units sold in the last thirty-one days, whatever it holds. The lexicon also holds new arrival, discontinued and supplier issues; the tag engine's three readings do not write them.
The words on the face
| On the face | Where it prints | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| Covered | Health on Stock on hand, the product page, the variant room | cover at this warehouse needs no decision |
| Overstocked | the same | more on hand than the rate of sale will clear |
| Needs ordering | the same | out, or due a reorder now |
| Not measured | the same | no cover reading at this warehouse |
| high growth, declining, consistent seller | Tags | how the variant's sales have moved over twenty-six weeks |
| not selling, stocked out, understocked, overstocked | Tags | how the variant is stocked at this warehouse |
Health is a shape as well as a word: a ring for Overstocked and a diamond for Needs ordering, in ink, so the state survives without colour. The product page and the variant room mark Covered with a plain filled dot; Not measured carries no mark. Amber never paints health: a stockout is a fact, not a declared promise at risk. Caution and critical are the wire's names for Overstocked and Needs ordering and never print on a face.
What you can do about it
Filter Stock on hand by Health or by Tags and open the rows. The product page's head counts the lines that need ordering and offers Work the reorder; the variant room shows the days of cover per warehouse, the day a reorder lands, and the reorder the engine proposes, with Raise with {supplier} adding it to the Bench. Managed, on the product page and in the variant room, puts a variant in or out of replenishment. A health reading you disagree with is changed through the facts under it: the supplier, its lead time, the replenishment frequency, and the stock the connector reports.
