## What it is

Every order in the Buy book stands in one of seven words: Drafted, Confirmed, In production, Shipped, Delivered, Completed or Cancelled. An eighth word, Suggested, marks a purchase order Tightly drafted and nobody has approved yet. The same words read on the book, the order's badge, its lifecycle track, the filter chips and the supplier's Orders tab, one spelling everywhere.

## How Tightly decides it

The status is served with the order and folded to one word. An order the wire calls requested reads Drafted, because nothing has been confirmed either way; an order partly or fully shipped reads Shipped, and partly or fully delivered reads Delivered, because the units booked in are a figure on the order and not a second status. Completed is a flag a person sets, and it outranks the word: a delivered order marked completed reads Completed. Suggested is the order's draft flag and outranks the rest; on the purchase order book and record only Cancelled outranks it.

Purchase orders and transfer orders move Drafted, Confirmed, Shipped, Delivered; a drafted order may also go straight to Shipped. Manufacturing orders move Drafted, Confirmed, In production, Completed. The server accepts Cancel from any step, though the purchase order page offers it only before an order is delivered or completed, and a manufacturing order's page only before production starts. A cancelled order reactivates only to Drafted, never to where it had got to. An order on hold refuses every step but Cancel until the hold is released. Every other move is refused by the server in its own words.

Each step locks something. Confirmed locks unit costs and the product list and starts the order counting as on order; Confirm an order explains it. Shipped books nothing in. Delivered books every outstanding unit as a final delivery and moves stock by your sync settings. Completed closes the order to further deliveries. Cancelled excludes the order from incoming stock. On a make order, In production says the raw materials are on hand and the finished good is being built.

## The words on the face

| Word | What is true |
|---|---|
| Suggested | Tightly drafted it; approve to make it a draft, or ignore to remove it |
| Drafted | Created and editable; nothing sent, nothing on order |
| Confirmed | Unit costs and the product list locked; counted as on order |
| In production | A make order being built; its materials are allocated |
| Shipped | The supplier has sent the goods; what arrives is recorded under Deliveries |
| Delivered | Every outstanding unit booked in |
| Completed | Closed to further deliveries; on a make order, made |
| Cancelled | Stopped; excluded from incoming stock; reactivates to Drafted |

Beside the word, the Delivery column reads Agreed on confirmation while an order is Drafted or Suggested, and a date with the word late when the order is behind it and not yet delivered. A second word on Status names a supplier's update: date moved, wants to cancel, shipped, quantity changed.

## What you can do about it

The next stop on the order's lifecycle track is the one button, and each step states its consequence before you press it, in a popover, or on Tightly Pro in a drawer for Mark as confirmed. Cancel, from the order or the row menu, asks first. Reactivate puts a cancelled order back to Drafted. Mark as completed and Reopen set and clear the completed flag once units are delivered. Approve and Ignore act on a suggested order. A step the order cannot take is refused:

> Invalid status transition from {from} to {to} for order type {type}

Placed purchase orders also show Order amendments in Actions. Use it to review a proposed change; opening it does not change the order’s lifecycle status.

## Glossary line

An order stands in one of seven words from Drafted to Completed or Cancelled; Suggested is an order Tightly drafted and nobody has approved.
