Families is a page of its own, and the Join Desk lists the incoming products waiting for a family.

## What changed

- [Families](../product/families) opens as a page of its own beside the [Catalogue](../product/products), and its head says how much of the catalogue is connected and how much spend has no family behind it.
- On the Join Desk you can read each family as a grid of colourways and declared variations, and declare or change how a family varies; a rename keeps the same identity and a removal is refused with its reason where orders exist.
- Incoming products are reviewed with their confidence in plain words: place one into a family, redirect it, or start a new family in four steps.
- An appearance can be disconnected without being lost, a key that maps to two products can be resolved, the full history reads as sentences, and any act can be undone.
- Undoing Make it its own family or Start the family moves the product back before removing the empty family, so no empty shell survives its own undo; if another product joined the shell meanwhile, the undo is refused with its reason.
- The Join Desk reads exactly what is served, field for field, and a refusal is shown as served rather than paraphrased.
