# The variant room

## The question this page answers

Is this variant at risk before a reorder can land, and where? A variant is one sellable item, a product in one size and colour. The room is one variant, every warehouse it lives in.

## What you see

::: shot page
:::

The head is the variant's name, a chip and one sentence composed from served facts. The sentence names the warehouses that are out and the one that covers longest, or the warehouse holding the tightest cover and for how many days; then, with a lead time held, the day a reorder placed today lands, and when that landing falls after a season opens, the season's name. Without a lead time it ends that no lead time is held, so there is no landing date. The chip reads At risk or Covered, and Not measured where no warehouse is measured and none is out.

Under the head, two facts: SKU (Not on file where the store holds none) and Replenishment, Seasonal or Continuity. The head's buttons are **Managed** (a switch), **Declare as a bundle** where the variant has no structure of its own, and **Work the reorder** where the engine proposes one, or Orders where it does not.

Below, seven sections under a strip, one at a time: Position, Orders, Demand, Selling, Supply, Price and Activity.

- Position: one row per warehouse with Warehouse, Health, On hand, Reserved, Sellable, Value at cost, Cover, Runway and State. Runway draws the cover from today to the landing and reads, for example, Dry on a date and how many days with no stock, or Covered past the landing. State is Selling, Out, Out since a date, or Not counted. With more than one warehouse, a Warehouse picker you can search narrows the table to one warehouse, or shows All warehouses. Under the table, with All warehouses, Unmet before the landing date gives the units of forecast demand that go unmet.
- Orders: the reorder, proposed (Suggested, At cost, Meets minimum, Rounds to batch, Lands), then Open orders, then Purchase orders landed in the last year with PO, Units, Raised, Promised, Landed and Late.
- Demand: units sold solid and the forecast dashed, eight weeks ahead, with the peak week as the chart's figure, and Work the forecast.
- Selling: Net revenue, Units sold, Returns, GMROI and Sell-through for the window, on the channel you pick, with weekly units sold and a mark on a week a stockout sat in.
- Supply: Default supplier (a door to the supplier), On time in full, Lead time, Unit cost, Minimum order, Replenishment check, Batch size, Size pack and Suppliers linked.
- Price: the sell price, every move of the last twelve months (When, From, To), units sold against price, and the pricing engine's Tier, Confidence and Basis. On Tightly Pro, Compare discounts stands here too.
- Activity: the variant's own events, When, What and Change, four at a time.

A Details door at the right holds what the variant is: Attributes (the variant's picture, Product information, Codes, Planning attributes, including Nearest analogs, and your added fields and customs codes), Structure where the variant is made, is a kit or is used in a made variant, and Retailers where one of your retail accounts carries it.

## What to do

1. Toggle **Managed** to put the variant in or out of replenishment.
2. Press **Work the reorder** to open Orders, then **Raise with {supplier}** to add the proposed reorder to the Bench.
3. Press **Open the Bench** beside the receipt to see where it landed.
4. On Supply, press **Edit supplier details** to open the one drawer that writes supplier links: Default or Set as default, MOQ, Batch, Unit cost, Cadence, Lead time by warehouse, Add supplier and Remove.
5. On Attributes, press **Edit** to open Edit attributes, on Tightly Essentials+ and Tightly Pro.
6. On Structure, open the bill, recipe or where-used in a drawer.

Raising a reorder prints:

> Added to the Bench. This places no order.

Saving supplier details prints:

> Only what you changed is saved.

A SKU already taken is refused on the SKU field. Where your plan does not include product data, Attributes reads No attribute is served here.

## When it is empty or failed

Each read that did not answer says so for its own section and claims nothing:

> The stock position read didn't answer.

> The orders read didn't answer.

> The recommendation read didn't answer.

> The activity read didn't answer.

Empty sections say what is true:

> No warehouse holds this variant.

> None landed in 12 months.

> No open order.

> No reorder recommendation

> Nothing has happened yet.

A variant that does not exist is a failed read, never an empty room: the title reads This variant and the head says

> The variant read didn't answer.
