## The question this page answers

Can the coming weeks pay for the buy we intend, week by week, on each supplier's payment terms, against the cash we hold above the floor we declared?

## What you see

The cash gate is headed Cash & payments: a year of retail weeks, fifty-two of them on the organisation's own 4-5-4 grid, with the buy placed on each supplier's terms. The head carries the time the read was computed, Actions, and Planning estimate, which says cash headroom is a planning estimate and authorises no order or payment.

The figure row: Fundable, above the floor, only where it differs from the draw; Open buy, the intended buy at cost, which the supplier groups table foots to; Buy drawn, what leaves the bank inside the window; Levers release, with how many were taken; and Weeks on file, only where some week is not. Opened from a commitment's desk, Open buy carries the word of what that book placed, or none of it. Planned buy and Worked buy, with any money before or after the window, open from Actions as Buy breakdown.

Beside the figures, Cash in: Shipped only or Plus committed orders. Only shipped is fact; an order your accounts have committed to is their option, and the choice is offered only where some week carries such a figure. Where a worked buy is measured, Cash out offers Placed only or Plus the worked buy.

The chart, Balance after the buy, is headed by the lowest balance and the week it falls in. It draws the balance with the buy placed, the balance with nothing more placed behind it, the floor as a rule, and a band named Under the floor over the weeks below it. Once a lever is taken the solid line is the relieved ladder and the dashed one where it stood. Where only one week is readable, a Cash snapshot sets that balance against the floor. The one sentence the ladder comes to, such as how far cash falls under the floor and in which week, is what Home's queue shows for this page.

Two tabs sit under the chart. Cash forecast is the weeks table, opened whole, with Review N weeks narrowing it to the weeks that matter and Show all N weeks putting it back. Its columns: Week, each a door to the Weekly trading plan at the same week; Cash in, headed by the word most weeks stand on, such as Projected cash in, with only a week that differs wording its figure; Cash out; Buy drawn; Proposed purchases and Planned buy where measured; Levers release once a lever is taken; Balance after the buy; Above the floor. A week nobody has a figure for reads Not on file.

Supplier actions holds Supplier groups: Supplier, Open buy at cost, Terms (a number of days, measured from the supplier's bills or declared, or No terms on file), Pays in week (Week 38 or Weeks 38, 41; After the window; Not measured), Categories where the plan rides more than one, and Review on each group. Levers: Lever, Releases in the window, Buy effect at cost (Timing only where the buy is not changed), and a checkbox that is disabled where no release is on file.

## How Tightly decides it

The walk starts from the declared opening balance; each week's balance is the last plus cash in less cash out, and the balance after the buy takes the buy's own draw off that. Fundable is the draw less what the lowest week falls under the floor: the minimum, never the average. A week already traded is realised; a week ahead is projected from the plan of record on your direct channels, and says so in a word. The buy is moved off its delivery week onto the week its supplier bills: the median of that supplier's own billed orders where enough are on file, otherwise the supplier's declared terms, and never a default. A lever is offered only against a week below the floor, and levers are read on the shipped basis.

## What to do

Declare, in Actions, opens a drawer that reads back what is on file, takes the opening balance and the cash floor, says what becomes true before its one button, and leaves the receipt, with Put back, where the button was; [Finance declarations](../finance/declarations) is the record it writes. Only an admin can change these. Taking a lever is a proposal that writes nothing. Trim it or Phase it, on a taken lever that names a commitment, writes that commitment's worked depth or delivery phasing for the styles the lever reaches, and Open the desk goes to that commitment. Nothing on this page places an order.

## When it is empty or failed

> The opening balance and the cash floor are not declared.

> The opening balance is declared and the cash floor is not.

> The cash floor is declared and the opening balance is not.

The arrival face: what must arrive, and Declare beside it. A declared floor of zero is a real answer and draws the ladder.

> The two declarations are in, and no week of cash is on file.

> The cash gate did not answer, so no week can be read.

A failed read, with Try again beside it.

> Reading the weeks.
