## The question this page answers

Which season has not opened yet, does its buy land inside the envelope, and which styles still need a person?

## What you see

Pre-season resolves the one commitment whose season has not opened, or asks you to choose when more than one is waiting: the chooser is a table of the buys waiting to open, with a bar of their envelopes. It wears the commitment's own head: the name, the stage chip, the standing word, and a line of facts (Season, the category or scope, the channel legs, the Envelope). Where the next turn is close, the head says what it is and how many days away. Beneath, the season's doors stand as dates: Declared, Buy locks, Season opens, Season ends, each reading in the past tense once it has passed.

The buy against the envelope is a card with a meter and four figures: Envelope, The buy lands at, the gap, and Depths decided. The landing is a sum over costed styles at unit cost, never a rate, and its small word says how many styles it was valued on; a style with no unit cost is left out of the money. The gap reads Envelope not yet worked, with the amount, where the buy lands under the envelope; Past the envelope, with the amount, where it is over; and Level where it is within a dollar. Where the page holds only part of the book, the gap reads Not a position. Depths decided counts the styles a person has decided out of all of them.

Needs a person is a table with a door on every row: Style, Reason, Depth, and Work the buy. Each style appears once, with its worst reason only. The four it promises lists the recorded promises with the basis of each: Number, Declared, Basis. Who the plan depends on ranks the accounts: Account, Standing, At risk, Booked now, Same point last season. Where the season before left stock behind, a card says what it left: the units the season opens holding, their cost and the wait. Where a closed predecessor carried lessons into this season, a card named after that season lists each lesson and what it carries.

## What to do

Nothing here writes. Every door leaves the page. A style that needs a person opens [Work the buy](../commitments/the-desk), where its depth is typed, and so does the head's Work the buy. The Envelope figure opens [Open to buy](../commitments/open-to-buy). Record an agreed book, on the accounts card, opens [the agreed book](../commitments/agreed-book). Amend the declaration opens [Amend a commitment](../commitments/amend); it is offered only where the declaration can be amended, and its hover gives the reason otherwise. What last season taught opens the predecessor's Hindsight.

## When it is empty or failed

While the season is being read:

> Reading the season that has not opened yet.

When nothing is waiting:

> Every commitment on the book has opened or closed.

A commitment named in the address that this tenant does not hold:

> No commitment at this address.

A list that did not load, or a season whose buy did not load, is a failed read and not an empty book or an empty buy; nothing is shown rather than an envelope with holes in it:

> Commitments failed to load.

> Season buy failed to load.

A season whose per-style read lists no product has no buy to value against its envelope, and a season none of whose products carries a unit cost has its buy valued in units and in no money; the sentence names the season in both cases. A season that binds no buying budget says there is no ceiling to read the buy against, and to amend it to declare one. The three tables each name their own emptiness:

> No style needs a person

> Nothing promised beyond the envelope

> No account holds a book
