## The question this page answers

Month by month, what does the plan still need to arrive, against what the envelope allows?

## What you see

::: shot page
:::

Open to buy is always the open to buy of one commitment, and every figure on it is a residual of the plan. The head carries the commitment's name, its stage, the plan it holds, Export the plan and Revert to held, and a way back to where you came from: the desk, the buy, or the Weekly trading plan.

Three figures sit under the head: The plan's line, what the plan on file commands; Needs, what the replenishment engine still wants to buy over the rest of the window at cost, or The plan of record where a desk owns this commitment's buy; and the money available, read as Available after drafts, Available before drafts or Available funding, by which figure the read served. Beside them are the plan's dials, growth on planned cost of sales, margin and turn, under **Plan assumptions**; a dial moves the Line column in the same frame and stores nothing.

The sections are **The book**, **Buy breakdown**, and, once the money reads, **Where it lands**, **Budget** and **Exceptions** (**Channels** too, where the book can still be edited).

The book is one table of months: Month, Planned sales, Reductions, Planned markdown, Realised markdown, the markdown difference, Closing stock, Closing cover, Opening stock, Receipts needed, Worked buy, Drafted, On order, Received, Remaining receipts and Above buying budget. Each month's name opens that month on the Weekly trading plan. Its footer totals Receipts needed, On order and Remaining receipts on a meter, with Drafted and Above buying budget beside them. Receipts & markdown holds the Receipts needed chart, drawn only where every month can be computed.

Where it lands shows the money by category: Category, On file, Line, Basis, On order, Open to commit, Turn and Standing. An empty cell shows a dash; resting on it, or reading it aloud, gives the reason: No prediction on On file where no forecast exists, No line where the category carries none, Not measured on On order or Turn where the order book was not read for this scope, or Not computable on Open to commit where a residual has nothing to stand on.

## What to do

1. Choose a category first: the whole book is a total and is read, never typed.
2. On a category, type a month's **Planned sales**, **Reductions**, **Closing stock** or **Closing cover**, or press **Take it** to accept the engine's figure; **Hand back** clears a month.
3. Read the strip under the grid for what moved, then press **Make it the plan** to write it, or **Put it back**/**Do it again** to walk the changes. A read-only seat reads the same strip as:

   > Your access is read-only; an admin can change it on Team.

4. On the whole book, arm an envelope against a month's shortfall under **Above buying budget**; nothing is written until you commit it through an amendment.
5. On **Channels**, split a category's planned sales by channel.
6. On **Where it lands**, state an exception where a category must differ from its computed line, with a reason; it is stated on the page only, and no write stores it yet.
7. On **Budget**, press **Save reforecast** to keep a reforecast, or **Lock the budget** to freeze the typed cells as the budget, which needs commitment approval access.

## When it is empty or failed

> Choose a commitment to read its open to buy.

> The live position did not answer.

> The position names no row for this commitment.

> Monthly plan failed to load.

> This commitment has no month grid to lay the money on.

> This commitment covers no category, so no row carries the money.

A continuity book has no month grid, and the page says so in the money read's own words. A channel commitment Tightly cannot lay out by category reads:

> A channel commitment has no category money position, because stock and orders carry no channel.
