# Set a colour split

## What it writes

Set a colour split records how one style's buy divides across its colourways, keyed on your own colourway names: a share per colourway in basis points, summing to ten thousand, on one commitment. It writes the division and nothing else: no units, no Bench line, no order, none of the five declared numbers. A colourway the style is not offered in is refused, never a share landing somewhere plausible. A hand-back clears the split.

## Who may press it

A seat that can write, on a plan that includes Commitments. The colour options on [Work the buy](../commitments/the-desk) are the act's home: the Options tab of a row's drawer, and the same block in the Buy tab of the style's product panel. Type a share per colourway and press Record this split, or press Hand the split back; Record this split stays closed while every share is zero. Ask Tightly may propose it as `set_worked_colour_curve`, and offers it only to a seat that also holds editing on the Buy door. Pressing the chip asks Ask Tightly to restate the act, your yes is the confirm, and the write then runs under your own seat. Over MCP nothing here writes: a connected agent reads the commitment, and the act stays a person's press.

## What you see

The drawer's receipt:

> The colour split is recorded under your name.

> The colour split is handed back; nobody has decided it.

A refusal carries the server's sentence in the drawer. The server answers a split that changes nothing with:

> This is already the colour split on record, so nothing was changed and nobody was restamped.

## What to do

The way back is the next split, or the hand-back. To type units per colourway rather than shares, use [Set colour depths](../commitments/act-set-colour-depths), which writes the depth and the split together. A split must cover every colourway before [Add to Bench](../commitments/act-send-to-the-bench) will stage the style. The size split is its own act, [Set a size split](../commitments/act-set-a-size-split).

## Refusals you may read

> Saving a colour split is not available on this account yet. Nothing was changed.

> This style is not offered in colourways, so there is nothing to divide its buy between.

> This style is offered in one colourway, so the whole buy is that colourway. There is no split to record.

> A colour split must add up to the whole buy: 10000 basis points, which is 100%. This one adds up to {total} ({percent}%). It has not been saved and has not been adjusted: rounding a split to fit would store a division you did not choose. Colourways you leave out keep no reading at all, and one you want to buy none of is entered as 0.

A share for a colourway the style is not offered in is refused by name, and the sentence lists the colourways it is offered in. A share below none or above the whole buy is refused with the colourway named. A style outside the commitment's scope is refused, because a colour split for it would mean nothing. Every colourway at zero totals nothing and is refused by the same rule: buying none of the style is a depth of zero, the depth's own act, and not a split of nothing. Handing back a style with no split says there is nothing to hand back:

> This style has no colour split set, so there is nothing to hand back. Its buy is not divided between colourways.
