# The Ask Tightly panel

## The question this page answers

Can I ask about the page I am on without leaving it, and will the answer know where I am standing? The panel is Ask Tightly beside every working page. It carries the same conversations as the Ask Tightly page, and the page you are on rides every question, so on Essentials and above a question asked from a purchase order is answered about that order. On Tightly Lite the panel answers how-to questions about the page, draws the ten fixed charts and opens doors, but does not read the order itself. It answers the way the Ask Tightly page does: a question that only asks for a page gets that page's door at once, a how-to question is answered from the help centre, and an answer about how Tightly works cites an article or says The knowledge base has no article for that.

## What you see

::: shot page

The panel's head reads Ask Tightly, followed by the conversation's name once it has one. At its right sit Pin (Unpin while pinned) and Close. The button that moves the panel to the other side stands in the page's top bar, beside the Ask Tightly mark that opens and closes it.

Under the head is one row of doors. New conversation stands once a conversation is open. History {n} stands when there is at least one past conversation. Open in the workspace stands whenever no help article is open, and opens the conversation on the Ask Tightly page at its last answer.

Before anything is asked, the body reads Ask about this page, with Start with under it. On Home the box itself reads Ask Tightly about your stock, your orders or your buy plan on Pro, ends with your budget on Essentials and Essentials+, and on Tightly Lite, or while the plan is still being read, reads Ask Tightly about your stock, your sales or how Tightly works. On Home and everywhere on Tightly Lite, Start with offers three plan questions. On Lite:

> How do I read my stock figures?

> How do I report a problem?

> Where can I check my orders?

On Essentials and Essentials+ they ask which products need reordering, which orders are overdue and how much purchasing budget remains; on Pro, which commitments need attention, how much is open to buy and which buying decisions are waiting. Elsewhere the page offers its own questions, and where you have pressed a row or opened a month, the first question is about that.

In a commitment's room a chip stands above the box with the commitment's name and its stage, for example pre-season · locks in {n} days. While it stands every question is about that commitment, and the stage's questions lead Start with. Its cross, Ask company-wide instead, drops it for this commitment only.

## Pinned or floating

Pinned, the panel stands beside the page and the page narrows to make room; on a narrow screen the panel narrows toward its minimum, then the rail drops to icons, and only then does it float. Unpinned, it floats over the page. Its width is dragged on the inner edge between 340 and 840 pixels and remembered, as are its side, whether it is pinned and whether it is open. Under 474 pixels wide a charted answer draws its title, lead sentence and stamp with the door Open in the workspace; the full block draws from 474 up.

## What to do

1. Press **Command+J** (or **Control+J**) to open and close the panel from anywhere it may stand.
2. With the panel open, the same keys put the caret in the box; pressed again in an empty box, they close it. **Escape** in an empty box puts a floating panel down.
3. Press a **Start with** row, or type your own question and press **Ask**.
4. On Essentials and above, press an act chip to request an act; the press is a request, and a write asks first and waits for your **Yes** or **No**.
5. Where a page head carries a help door, press it, or type a question mark outside a box, to open the panel on the page's article.
6. Press **Back to conversation** to return to what you had open before the article.

## When it is empty or failed

The panel stands down on the Ask Tightly page and the Board, where the page is the assistant; it stays beside a kept answer's workspace, where every question is about that answer. On those two it is not drawn, the head's mark is hidden and no width is kept. Leave, and it comes back as you left it. On Setup it floats over the wizard rather than beside it. Errors read as they do in the conversation: the sentence in ink with Try again, and an answer you stopped with Retry.
